Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
Philadelphia International Airport is a major metropolitan airport. Primarily serving air carriers, it also has a robust cargo operation as well as a vibrant high-end general aviation community. Three parallel, one intersecting runway, and the associated complex system of taxiways can make Philadelphia International Airport a challenge for even the most experienced pilot. Additional preparation and increased awareness needs to be exercised while visiting the airport.
Palm Springs International Airport (PSP)
Palm Springs International is a medium sized, multi-use airport located on the northern end of the city of Palm Springs, California. The traffic mix at the airport includes general and corporate aviation, air carriers, and military. The mix of pilot experience and aircraft capability make Palm Springs a challenging airport for controllers and pilots alike. The airport configuration consists of parallel runways with staggered thresholds and the taxiway system provides access to businesses, terminals, and hangars located on the east and west sides of the airport.
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI)
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is a mixed-use airport located on the east coast of Florida, between the cities of West Palm Beach and Lake Worth. Pilots who are not familiar with the area should be aware that North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport (F45) is located approximately 10 miles northwest with a very similar RWY configuration. The traffic mix at PBI consists of air carriers, corporate, and general aviation.
Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB)
Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) is medium sized multi-use airport. It has considerable air carrier and air taxi traffic along with a robust flight training operation. Located 20 miles north of Orlando International airport, it is also a reliever airport for the general and business aviation communities. Pilot skills vary widely from pre-solo student to experienced airline captain. There is also a large amount of bird activity in and around the airport, which has led to an unusually high number of bird strikes at the field.
Ohio State University Airport (OSU)
Ohio State University (OSU) is a small to medium sized, primarily corporate and general aviation airport, located in the northwest part of the city of Columbus, Ohio. The airfield is home to the Ohio State University's Flight Education program. From basic pre-solo students through advanced ratings, the University provides the bulk of the traffic at this airport. The rest of OSU's traffic consists of corporate aviation as well as a robust Medivac community.
San Francisco Bay Oakland International (OAK)
San Francisco Bay Oakland International (OAK) is a multi-use airport located on the east side of San Francisco Bay, ten miles northeast of the San Francisco International Airport and just south of the city of Oakland, California. The traffic mix consists of all aspects of the aviation community. Most general aviation services are located on the north side of the airport. Northeast Florida Regional Airport (SGJ)
Northeast Florida Regional Airport (SGJ) is a medium sized, primarily general and corporate aviation airport, located just north of the city of St. Augustine in northeast Florida. The city is a popular tourist and business destination and Northeast Florida Regional provides easy access. The airport configuration consists of a larger primary runway intersected by two smaller runways. A complex taxiway system provides access to the FBO, businesses, terminals, and hangars, predominantly located on the south and west side of the airport.
