Air Carrier Special Operation Programs Section

Our Mission is to develop and communicate agency policies and guidance that support Safety Assurance Offices and other stakeholders with the necessary technical information consistent with the assigned roles and responsibilities of this section.

Our Vision is to provide a better understanding and overview of the roles and responsibilities in our section to our Safety Assurance Offices, making them more productive and successful.

The strategic plan includes four overarching DOT, FAA & AVS Strategic Goals that are general, outcome-orientated, long-term goals for the Department’s major functions and operations.

  • DOD / Gary Cooper 
  • Flight deck access and ICAO/EASA Jump-seat authorizations, and Digital Cockpit Concept / J. Keenan / George Bowlus
  • Boeing UAS/ DARPA – EASA Reduced Crew Operations (RCO)  Chuck Clark
  • Airbus – Single Pilot Concept Collaboration / Chuck Clark
  • De-icing – Michael t. White / Scott Stacy /Stby. Support C. Enders
  • Dispatch – POC / Multiple activities /Academy review curriculum
  • Cargo steering Group / Ethics AFX-1 group / Outside FAA work employment.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Air Carrier Special Operation Programs Section collaborates and supports all branches within AFS-200 and across other divisions as necessary, with the technical expertise required for air carrier continued operational safety.
