Community Engagement – Fort Myers Southwest Florida
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is proposing to modify the Class C airspace over Fort Myers Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Florida. Under the proposed changes, existing flight paths would not change but where pilots are required to interact with Air Traffic Control would expand. The airspace change is being proposed to better manage the complexity and volume of aviation activities in the area. The purpose of the meeting is to ask for comments on the proposal’s effect on local aviation operations.
Information gathered through this meeting will assist the FAA in the drafting of a Notice of Proposed Rule-Making (NPRM) that will be published in the Federal Register. The public will be afforded the opportunity to comment on any NPRM published on this matter.
The agency will hold a virtual informal airspace meeting on:
Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2026
Time: 5-7 p.m. ET
Location: Register on Zoom to make a three-minute presentation or you can watch the livestream on FAA’s YouTube channel.
The FAA will accept comments on the proposal until May 29, 2026.

Proposal Background
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) changes airspace through the federal rulemaking process. After the comment period closes, we will consolidate and review the comments and consider incorporating modifications into the proposal. After considering all additional public comments on the NPRM, the FAA may publish a final rule that would officially modify the airspace.
The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) requires the FAA to identify and publicly disclose any potential environmental impacts of the proposed airspace modifications. We will conduct an environmental review in compliance with NEPA and other environmental laws, regulations, and orders applicable to FAA actions.
