The Federal Aviation Administration is proposing an update to certain helicopter-specific air traffic procedures, known as the FAA Instrument Flight Procedures Low-Level Helicopter System (ILHS) to support Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA), or the ILS-HAA Project:
- This new suite of air traffic procedures will improve safety for helicopter air ambulance operations, by enabling them to fly with more predictability during inclement weather with air traffic oversight.
- The Final Environmental Assessment (EA) dated October 2023, analyzed noise impacts and other factors such as biological resources, environmental justice, and air quality.
- The FAA issued its Finding of No Significant Impact and Record of Decision (FONSI/ROD) dated November 7, 2023, based on the information and analysis contained in the Final EA. You may see the FONSI/ROD here.
Final Comments: The public comment period for the Final EA/FONSI/ROD ended on December 7, 2023.
