The Washington Flight Operations Team is based at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), Hangar 6. Their primary critical event response / transportation mission supports official FAA responsibilities in times of emergency or disaster, as well as support the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in carrying out its duties. They also serve the transportation needs of Department of Transportation (DOT) and FAA senior executives. This mission supports other federal agencies under reimbursable agreements, including the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Transportation Security Administration (TSA). They also perform flight inspection missions (those not requiring mission specialists or specific flight inspection equipment).

The Washington Flight Operations Team currently operates two exclusive-use leased Citation CE-560XLs. Staff members have both military and civil flying and regulatory compliance backgrounds.
