Section 833: National Coordination and Oversight of Designated Pilot Examiners

Section 833, National Coordination and Oversight of Designed Pilot Examiners, as specified in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, requires the FAA to submit reports to the appropriate committees of Congress evaluating the use of designated pilot examiners (DPEs) for testing, including written and practical tests. The reports address DPE deployment, regional scheduling wait times, testing activity, examiner utilization, and retest rates. The FAA is implementing Section 833 in coordination with Flight Standards District Offices, DPE managing specialists, and aviation industry stakeholders, including representatives of the general aviation community.
