Request for Information on Current Type Certificate (TC) Holders Prior to Declaring TC Abandoned
The FAA Reauthorization Act of 2012, Section 44704(a)(5), §302 allows the FAA to make TC "engineering data" available upon request to persons for certificates that the FAA determines are abandoned. The Act allows for the release of FAA engineering data files of TCs that the FAA finds to be abandoned through a process of due diligence. Order 8110.120, Processing Surrendered, Abandoned, and Historical Aircraft Type Certificates defines the procedure for a due diligence search for owners and/or their heirs of TCs suspected to be abandoned. This Order specifies what actions need to be taken by the FAA to attempt to locate the legal holder of the TC prior to such a determination.
The FAA is requesting information on the current holders of the Type Certificates and/or Supplemental Type Certificates listed below, prior to making a determination that these Certificates have been abandoned. Please see the Federal Register notice linked from each entry for more information.
