Become a DMIR or DAR-F

Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representatives and Designated Airworthiness Representatives for Manufacturing

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Manufacturing or Airworthiness Designee.

The Aircraft Certification Service (AIR) completed transition of all AIR Manufacturing Designees to the new Designee Management System (DMS) in the fall of 2014. As a result of the transition, all Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representatives (DMIRs) and Designated Airworthiness Representatives for Manufacturing (DAR-Fs) are now required to follow the policy in FAA Order 8000.95, and FAA Order 8100.8 is no longer applicable to these two designations. Holders of these designations are also required to record information related to their designation, as well as the work they perform under that designation, in DMS. All new applicants for a DMIR or DAR-F designation will use the on-line application process in DMS. Paper applications are no longer accepted for these designations.

If you are interested in pursuing appointment as a DMIR or DAR-F, please ensure you're applying to the appropriate Certificate Management Section (CMS) by reviewing the CMS geographical area of responsibility based on your state of residence or by a specific CMS:
