Jeffrey Vincent serves as executive director of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Accident Investigation and Prevention (AVP), the FAA’s focal point for safety management systems, aviation safety data, and all aircraft accident investigations and activities related to the National Transportation Safety Board. AVP is also responsible for leading FAA-industry collaborative safety initiatives, such as the U.S. Aviation Safety Team and the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing program, to reduce the risk of accidents. Jeffrey serves as U.S. Government co-chair of the General Aviation Joint Safety Committee and the Drone Safety Team; two groups formed to identify leading accident indicators and implement voluntary safety enhancements to reduce the risk of accidents.
Jeffrey previously served as the executive director of the FAA’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Office, responsible for the safe and scalable integration of drones into the National Airspace System. Prior to this position, Jeffrey held executive roles in the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization (ATO). As vice president in ATO’s Air Traffic Services, he led 18,000 employees who provided safe and efficient air navigation services for more than 42,000 flights and 2.5 million airline passengers across 29 million square miles of airspace every day. As vice president for the ATO’s Office of Safety and Technical Training, he led numerous safety data analysis initiatives to identify unsafe trends and proactively take corrective actions.
Over 40 years ago, Jeffrey began a career in aviation as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Army. He joined the FAA in 1986 and has served as a certified professional controller, supervisor, manager, and executive. His assignments included control tower and radar approach control facilities in Atlanta, Birmingham, Boston, Charlotte, and Houston. Throughout his career, Jeffrey built and maintained strong coalitions, partnerships, and an inclusive workplace to achieve results and long-lasting contributions that support the shared commitment to the FAA mission.
