Airports International Program
Each year, millions of U.S. passengers fly to and from countries throughout the world. To ensure the safe travel of these passengers, the FAA provides technical assistance to a variety of civil aviation authorities, airport operators, and international organizations in support of the FAA International Strategy (PDF).
Within the Office of Airports, our primary international focus is on the following areas:
- Safety
- Environment
- Engineering
- Planning
- Finance
- Economic development
We provide technical assistance through technical workshops, present at international conferences, and work closely with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Montreal, supporting Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS) and other guidance documents. Our technical experts also serve on technical workgroups and taskforces.
Through these efforts, we work with countries around the world and industry partners to advance the safety of the global airports system.
