25-7D AIR-600 Flight Test Guide for Certification of Transport Category Airplanes

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance for the flight test evaluation of transport category airplanes. This AC includes flight test methods and procedures to show compliance with the regulations contained in title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 25, subpart B, “Flight,” which address airplane performance and handling characteristics.

This revision, AC 25-7D, clarifies paragraph 23.2.4, Engine Restart Capability—§ 25.903(e); adds paragraph 34.4, Circuit Protective Devices—§ 25.1357; and revises appendix B, Function and Reliability (F&R) Tests, of this AC. This AC has been re-formatted to use a new paragraph numbering system for improved usability.

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance and standardized methods that data providers, such as type certificate (TC) holders, supplemental type certificate (STC) holders, applicants, and airplane operators, can use when developing takeoff performance data for transport category airplanes for operations on contaminated runways. This AC also promotes the use of consistent terminology for runway surface conditions used among data providers and FAA personnel.

25-28 ANM-110 Compliance of Transport Category Airplanes with Certification Requirements for Flight in Icing Conditions

This advisory circular (AC) describes an acceptable means of showing compliance with the supercooled large drop condition requirements of § 25.773, Pilot compartment view, § 25.1323, Airspeed indicating system, § 25.1324 Angle of attack system and § 25.1325, Static pressure system, as well as the requirements of § 25.1419, Ice protection, and § 25.1420, Supercooled large drop icing conditions, of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 25.  Part 25 contains the certification requirements for transport category airplanes.  The compliance means described in this document are intended as guidance.  They are meant to supplement the engineering judgment that must form the basis of any compliance findings for the supercooled large drop icing conditions in §§ 25.773, 25.1323, 25.1324, and 25.1325, as well as the compliance findings for §§ 25.1419 and 25.1420.

25.1329-1C ANM-110 Approval of Flight Guidance Systems, Including Change 1

This advisory circular (AC) describes an acceptable means for showing compliance with certain requirements of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 25.1329, Flight guidance systems.  While part 25 contains the airworthiness standards applicable to transport category airplanes, the guidance in this AC pertains to the functions of autopilots, flight directors, and automatic thrust control as well as any interactions with stability augmentation and trim functions. This revision incorporates minor changes associated with issuance of the final rule for Airplane and Engine Certification Requirements in Supercooled Large Drop, Mixed Phase, and Ice Crystal Icing Conditions.

25.629-1B ANM-115 Aeroelastic Stability Substantiation of Transport Category Airplanes

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance material for acceptable means, but not the only means, of demonstrating compliance with the provisions of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations part 25 associated with the design requirements for transport category airplanes to preclude the aeroelastic instabilities offlutter, divergence, and control reversal. The precise details for analytical procedures and testing techniques are beyond the scope of this AC.  However, some general information is included, with supporting discussions, for consideration when demonstrating compliance with§ 25.629 and related regulations. This advisory circular describes an acceptable means for showing compliance with the fuel tank structural integrity requirements of §§ 25.561, 25.721, and 25.963 of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations. Section 25.963(d) addresses fuel tank safety in emergency landing conditions. Section 25.963(d) references §§ 25.561 and 25.721, which also address emergency landing conditions.

This advisory circular describes acceptable means for showing compliance with the requirements of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations 25.307, Proof of structure. Section 25.307 requires structural testing to demonstrate compliance with the strength and deformation requirements of subpart C, unless structural analysis has been shown to be reliable.

25.795-9 ANM-100 Chemical Oxygen Generator Security Standards

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance for an acceptable means of showing compliance with the requirements of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations(14 CFR) 25.795(d), Chemical oxygen generators.  Section 25.795(d) requires each chemical oxygen generator (COG) or its installation to be designed so it meets one of several criteria.  The means of compliance described in this document provides guidance to supplement the engineering and operational judgment that must form the basis of any compliance findings relative to a COG installed on an airplane.

25-29 AFS-300 Development of a Nondestructive Inspection Program/Organization

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance for the development of organizations and facilities performing nondestructive inspections (NDI). This material is neither mandatory nor regulatory in nature and does not constitute a regulation. It describes an acceptable means, but not the only means, for developing NDI facilities, as well as organizational and quality manuals. We, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will consider other methods of demonstrating compliance that you may elect to present. We use the terms “must” and “will” in this AC only to ensure you correctly apply the recommendations of this particular method of compliance, if you choose to do so.

25.1302-1 ANM-111 Installed Systems and Equipment for Use by the Flightcrew

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance for the design and methods of compliance for installed equipment on transport airplanes intended for use by the flightcrew. The guidance provided by this AC is intended to minimize the occurrence of design-related errors by the flightcrew and to enable the flightcrew to detect and manage errors that do occur. This AC provides recommendations for the design and evaluation of controls, displays, system behavior, and system integration that are all part of human factors considerations.

25.803-1A ANM-115 Emergency Evacuation Demonstrations

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance on means, but not the only means, of compliance with Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 25 concerning:  (1) conduct of full?scale emergency evacuation demonstrations, and (2) use of analysis and tests in lieu of conducting an actual demonstration.  Throughout this AC, any reference to a full-scale demonstration, unless further qualified, means an evacuation demonstration in which a full complement of passengers and the requisite number of crewmembers evacuate an airplane using assist means, if installed, under the conditions specified in part 25, appendix J.  References to “appendix J” means 14 CFR part 25, appendix J.  Additionally, any reference to an analysis, which is to be used to satisfy the emergency evacuation requirements of part 25, means a formal analysis document supported by data from tests or demonstrations.  Terms such as “shall” and “must” are used only in the sense of ensuring applicability of this particular means of compliance when the acceptable means of compliance described herein is used.

25.729-1 ANM-110 Transport Airplane Landing Gear Retracting Mechanism

This advisory circular (AC) describes an acceptable means for showing compliance with the requirements of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) 25.729 regarding the landing gear retracting mechanism requirements. It will be incorporated into AC 25-21, “Certification of Transport Airplane Structure” and 25-22, “Certification of Transport Airplane Mechanical Systems” at a later date.

25-19A ANM-117 Certification Maintenance Requirements

This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance on the selection, documentation, and control of Certification Maintenance Requirements (CMR). This AC also provides a rational basis for coordinating the Maintenance Review Board (MRB), if the MRB process is used, and CMR selection processes to ensure premises made in the system safety analyses supporting the compliance with the requirements of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) 25.1309, and other system safety rules (such as §§ 25.671, 25.783, 25.901, and 25.933) are protected in service. This AC describes an acceptable means, but not the only means, for selecting, documenting, and managing CMRs. Terms such as "shall" and "must" are used only in the sense of ensuring applicability of this particular means of compliance when the acceptable means of compliance described herein is used.
